Signifying the end of the Winter Rowing Season, Ridley College hosted a bustling and exciting erg-a-thon! Managed by the Ridley Graduate Boat Club, the Nancy Storrs Ontario Indoor Rowing Championships brought a plethora of rowers from schools and rowing clubs from all over Ontario, giving them the opportunity to compete in categories ranging from Middle School to Seniors.

Honouring her legacy, this well-known competition was named after the rowing inspiration, Nancy Storrs. She was one of the original founders of this competition in the 1980s, making the Ontario Indoor Competition one of the oldest indoor rowing events in the country.

On the first of March, all of Ridley’s rowing teams made an appearance at this decorated competition, with the men's and women’s prep team, novice team, and middle school team demonstrating their strength and skills on the erg, allowing for more than 60 athletes to involve themselves in this competition. With a crowd of attentive fans watching, each member of Ridley’s high school rowing team excelled in their 2k races, while the middle schoolers displayed their determination and strength during their 500m races. After months of indoor training and erg workouts, the Ontario Indoor Competition served as an amazing opportunity for the rowers to display their strength, while giving them the opportunity to compete against a variety of rowers during the winter. I believe it is safe to say that this indoor rowing competition was very successful for Ridley’s athletes. We saw personal best times and high placements, a true display of the hard work and dedication put on by Ridley’s rowing teams.
