It has been a fantastic year of swimming for the Ridley Swimming team. On March 3rd and 4th, the Ridley Swim team competed at the OFSAA swimming championships held at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre, a well-known pool across Canada. This year, the team had the most athletes qualify for this event in Ridley’s history, with a total of 15 swimmers who attended!!
The Ridley Tigers who competed are as follows: Spencer Adlington, Olivia Alexander, Victor Chang, Ashton Kidd, Victor Kie, Olivia Lee, Aiden Macphail, Kevin Nguyen, Ethan Postma, Jade Postma, Lev Prokipchuck, Natalie Simpson, Jack Wang, and Pukii Zhao.
Ridley had 4 relays compete; senior men and women's medley and freestyle relays. An incredible achievement goes to the senior women's medley relay, placing 6th overall! The girls also placed 13th overall in the senior women's freestyle relay! Congratulations to Olivia Lee, Jade Postma, Olivia Alexander, and Maddie Oabel and Natalie Simpson. The men's team fought strong for Ridley placing 18th in the Medley Relay!! Congratulations to Kevin Nguyen, Ashton Kidd, Victor Chang, Aiden MacPhail, Victor Kie and Ethan Postma for competing in the men's relays!!
Individual Shoutouts go to Spencer Adlington, a grade 12 student here at Ridley, who placed 4th in the 100 breaststroke with an outstanding time in a very tough men's open division. Jade Postma, also in grade 12, placed in the top 10 in the women’s senior 100 breaststroke! Lev Prokipchuck, who competed in the junior division, set 2 lifetime personal best times in the 100 freestyle and the 50 Backstroke!! Congrats to all the Ridley athletes who competed this year!
The Ridley Swim team has come a long way since the start of the season in November. The entire team showed dedication, perseverance, and strength throughout this competition. Congrats to everyone who competed and thank you for being so consistent throughout the entire sports term. See you next year! Go Tigers!
