About The Tiger Times
By Rebecca Liu ’25 and Rawnie Sun ’25, Head Editor-in-Chief; Edited by Kat Willson ’26, Editor-in-Chief
Welcome (back) to The Tiger Times! We are Ridley’s premier newspaper, established recently in March 2024. A continuation of the old Tiger Tribune, The Tiger Times is your platform for keeping up to date with Ridley news, events, and even alumni reflections. From our monthly quotable quotes by you, the Ridley community, to the Community News Board, our Head Editor-in-Chief Rawnie’s prefect initiative, The Tiger Times is so excited to start the 2024-2025 school year!
Our mission is to provide an avenue for talented and passionate students to share events, projects, reflections, opinions, and much more. The Tiger Times is meant to be a place where any student with a vision can write and publish articles with the rest of the school community. Unlike other avenues, we are organized, written, directed, published, edited, and oriented to the Ridley student body above all else.
Under the guidance of the beloved history teacher Ms. O’Rourke, The Tiger Times: Newspaper and Magazine is run by Rebecca Liu ‘25 and Rawnie Sun ‘25 as Head Editors-in-Chief, Kat Willson ‘26 and Brie Goodly ‘26 as Editors-in-Chief, and Emily (Sooae) Kim ‘26 as Head of the Insider Magazine.
Continuing from last year, we are looking to write more amazing articles like “Applauding Amazing Alumni for AAPI Month,” “The Power of Political Art,” “Acing YOUR Exams with Sleep: Dr. Greg Well’s Insights,” and “Jimmie’s Poetry.”
But we need your help to write articles like that and even better. The Tiger Times is looking for student writers, editors, designers, artists, designers. We meet once a month at lunch on Friday, so pop by if you're ever interested!
But The Tiger Times is not just a place for our staff to share. Any students and clubs that want to share about their events, projects, art, or so much more are more than welcome to reach out to write an article or have it included in the next edition as a contributor. No matter what your interests are or your experience, The Tiger Times is always a platform of free and respectful speech for the Ridley community.
And new this year, The Tiger Times is taking care of the old Community News Board in the history wing. If anyone has anything to promote to the school, this is the best place to do so! Just reach out with your poster’s PDF and desired time frame to get approval. Posters will hang on the bulletin for two-week intervals, with a maximum of four weeks at a time.
It is also crucial for us to applaud The Tiger Times’ Directory Board: Mrs. Onclin, Mr. and Mrs. Tredway, Mr. De Vellis, Mr. Martinez, Ms. O’Rourke, Mr. Pavan, and Ms. Fournier.
But perhaps even more importantly, thank you, Ridley, for your continuous support, enthusiasm, and contribution to The Tiger Times. It is undoubtedly your voices, stories, and experiences that make this publication so special — we are so excited to continue to learn, share, and most importantly, grow with all of you this school year.
Here’s to another year of serving you fun, engaging, and maybe even inspiring content!
